Training

A Kuvasz is a large, exceptionally strong dog with a very independent spirit. For his sake, your sake and the sake of your neighbors and friends, he should be trained in basic obedience. Training begins the first day he enters your home, from which point your dog should be made to understand that you mean what you say.Do not be unreasonable in your expectations, especially of a young puppy and make sure he understands what you mean. He should learn the meaning of the word "NO" - say it and make it stick.

Firmness, gentleness and CONSISTENCY are the keys to success. If your puppy does something really wicked, a good shaking, or shaming is far more effective than striking him. Never strike your puppy!!! Do not permit a puppy to snap or jump up on you.It may look cute on a baby but it won't look cute when your "baby" weighs 50 kilos! As your puppy jumps up on you grag his front legs and hold to make him uncomfortable. After a few times, he will realize this is not what he is to do. There are many methods of training. As soon as your puppy has his shots you may want to introduce him to puppy classes for socialization and play. Then to your basic obedience. It will make a gentleman out of your pup and give you a stronger bond with him or her.
